Who we are and what we're about

"We started PRO Kayak Fishing because there was a lack of resources for kayak anglers to turn to for gear in our local area. Our goal is to provide an outlet for paddlers and kayak anglers to get the equipment they need with the best customer service and support that we can offer.

We trust the products that we sell because it is the same gear that we use. Our promise to our customers: We will never sell a product that we don't believe in and that we wouldn't take on the water ourselves. We love fishing and all types of paddling. Whether we are kayak fishing offshore for salmon, stand up paddling in Avila, or taking a relaxing paddle in the Morro Bay Harbor or on one of our local lakes, one thing is sure, you will find us on the water.

At PRO Kayak Fishing, we know kayak fishing!"

Tom Reilly

As one of PKF's founder's, Tom is our resident kayak and paddling Guru. Not only is he an accomplished angler but he is PRO Kayak Fishing's lead instructor and paddling expert. Tom started fishing when he was a kid and developed an early passion for it. In college, he discovered an additional passion when he learned how to kayak. He enjoyed paddling and being on the water so much that he decided to combine his passion and skills as an instructor and realize his dream of being, "paid to paddle." After becoming an instructor for the American Canoe Association (ACA), Tom started Momentum Paddle Sports (MPS) which specializes in kayak and SUP instruction and guided fishing trips on the Central Coast of California. MPS is our partner company for instruction and our guided fishing excursions. Tom says, "When I am not out paddling or fishing I am spending time with my wife and two kids. They love paddling with me but not fishing, just yet."

Eric Tebbets

As the other half of PKF, Eric is who most of PRO Kayak Fishing's customers have contact with, handling orders and fielding calls. Eric grew up exploring and fishing for trout with his Dad in the creeks, rivers, and lakes of the Sierra National Forest. These fisheries are still some of his favorite spots to look for trout. At the age of 10 he was introduced to saltwater fishing when his family relocated to Morro Bay, CA. From that time on he was hooked on the "salt". Growing up at the beach allowed him to fish the Pacific waters of Central California’s beaches, bays, jetties, and piers for a variety of species from perch and rockfish to halibut and sharks.

He was initially introduced to kayak fishing by his brother and later by his brother-in-law where he really caught the kayak fishing bug. Eric says, "kayak fishing has not only become an excellent way to get offshore and target my favorite species, but has become a great way to spend time with family and friends. Already my two young boys are learning to fish from kayaks on our local bays and lakes." Eric is primarily a saltwater fisherman on California's Central Coast where he works as a Fire Captain for Cal-Fire. Along with being one of the owner/operator's of PRO Kayak Fishing, he is also a member of the Wilderness Systems Kayaks and Adventure Technology Paddles prostaff teams. He is the founder and director of the Estero Kayak Challenge fishing tournament, is a volunteer fishing guide for the local chapter of Heroes on the Water (Central Coast HOW), and is a frequent contributor to Central Coast Kayak Fishing (CCKF).

Central Coast Kayaks

In early 2016, Tom and Eric were fortunate to be given the opportunity to buy Central Coast Kayaks in Shell Beach. Central Coast Kayaks is the new home of PRO Kayak Fishing offering tours, rentals, guided kayak fishing, classes, retail sales, bait & tackle, and kayak repairs.

If you are in the area stop by and check out the new shop, demo a kayak, or pickup the gear you've been looking for.
